Jefferson Landing is bordered by a stretch
of the extraordinary New River. This scenic river is actually
the only remaining portion of what was the second oldest river
system in the world. The New River is protected by the North
Carolina Natural and Scenic Rivers Act. It’s a haven
for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for smallmouth bass and
trout. Enjoy
Riverside Park, recently opened along the New River, with walking
trails, gazebo and benches. A pavilion, with exposed wood beam arches and a
stone fireplace, and resident barbeque grills provide for
wonderful family recreation.
